Going off on a tangent:

Morning newspaper of choice – New York Times… what’s interesting – Top 10 Must-Have Apps for the iPhone, and Some Runners-Up, oh and Home Labs on the Rise for the Fun of Science.  Home lab, now that's much closer to my heart:-).  Moving on to homemade PCR machines... what will I ever do with a PCR machine at home??  I surely don't want to clone at home; I do that at work every day...  Cool blogs I run into while thinking of good home purpose: geekdad.com, geekmom.com and homebiology.blogspot.com I'm about to be a mom; can I have a cool mommy blog too? Are there any other cool mommy blogs?  Yes, and plenty TOP 50 MOM BLOGS, 2010.  I liked this lady... and this lady was pretty cool.  Oh... I know - CHEESE!!!  How would I go about making homemade cheese?  Well, there is always Probiotics - and they love their bugs.  Where do I get them?  ATCC - one at a time.... at $255 a strain I might go broke by the end of the night.  The simpler rout... buy mixed cultures at Cheesemaker.com.  Now it turns out, you will also need something called Rennet, which can be made by genetically engineering chymosin gene into Aspergillus niger... now that I can make with a home made PCR machine:-)).

Birds

The Birds - oh how good they are, and how easy!!!  Allow me to share my inspirations with you and introduce you to some of the best chefs in the world.  Number one: the art of roast chicken with the help of the most exquisite Thomas Keller and enchanting Michael Ruhlman.  The chefs freely share their wisdom for the benefit of the mere mortals, and you can find them here and here.

Number two: the duck.  My other obsession for the last month has been a beautiful blog by the name of Caviar and Codfish.  The owner Robin Damstra is a wonder and here is her recipe.  And this one  came out of my oven:-)))

Diner in Blue

This beautiful place lives right around the corner, and we dropped by on Monday for lunch.  I was happy to find the taste of tuna melt has not changed in over ten years:-)).

Suffering from deep seasonal affliction…

Mostly because of the wonderful weather we have been having in my hometown of Brooklyn, NY. February has been miserable, but picturesque. So armed with my Lumix GF-1 I go on a daily shooting rampage, and here’s what comes out.
